What Does This Mean for Your Business?

Under the new rules, businesses must separate specific materials from general waste for recycling, anaerobic digestion, or composting. These materials include:

  • Glass
  • Metal
  • Plastics
  • Paper and cardboard
  • Food waste

At a minimum, your business will need the following waste services in place:

  • Dry Mixed Recycling (DMR): For glass, metal, plastics, and other recyclable materials.
  • Food Waste Recycling: To handle organic waste effectively.
  • General Waste Disposal: For non-recyclable materials.

Latest Update (Defra, 29.11.24):

Defra has clarified that businesses must separate paper and cardboard from other dry recyclables (glass, metal, and plastics). However, if your waste collector performs an assessment and deems it appropriate, these materials can be collected together.

RSL is here to guide you through these changes, ensuring compliance while creating a streamlined waste management system for your business. Let us help you make the transition to simpler, greener recycling practices.
